Union City Community Schools are making steady progress on a goal that we established
many years ago. When we achieve that goal we will no longer need to create technology
plans or treat technology as a separate entity because technology will become a completely integral and transparent part of what we do every day. Technology will be as ubiquitous as a pencil is today.
In developing our technology plan, we examined a wide variety of resources and materials. Included in our decision making process were the National Technology Goals, State of Michigan Technology Plan, Michigan Curriculum Framework (pdf), the Union City Community Schools School Improvement Plan, and research on the effective use of technology in education. All of the these have impacted the specific goals and strategies defined throughout this plan and serve as the foundation for the goals and strategies presented.

of teaching and learning.”
Technology Goals – achievement of the following general goals will move us closer to
achieving the vision we have established:
G1. The existing technology infrastructure will be maintained and updated as
needed to continue to provide basic technology resources.G2. The district will actively pursue and acquire new technologies that will
enable us to achieve district learning goals.G3. The district will actively pursue and acquire new technologies that will
enable us to improve the administration of the schools.G4. All district staff will demonstrate skills at the adaptation stage in their use
of technology and become transparent users of technology tools.G5. The district will provide technical support resources necessary to enable the
effective use of our technology resources.
